Frequently Asked Questions
Are you a clinic?
No, we are not a clinic. OISHA acts as a connector: our role is to link folks with trusted health providers and fund services. We’re here to help you navigate options and access the care you need.
Who qualifies?
OISHA services are meant for people who are uninsured, underinsured or anyone seeking confidential healthcare (nothing goes to insurance).
What does confidential care mean?
Confidentiality is assured by specific clinical procedures to keep information separate in your chart and uses a unique patient identifier number separate from the patient’s name in the pharmacy and OISHA systems. We don't receive your name or information on our end at all.
How much do services cost?
All services are offered at no cost, thanks to donations and community support.
How are you funded?
OISHA operates under the fiscal umbrella of the Orcas Island Community Foundation. We operate solely on donations and contributions from grants and community sponsors. If you're interested in donating, click HERE
Do you provide abortion care?
We do not provide abortion services on Orcas, but we can help coordinate off-island appointments through Planned Parenthood. However, on-island aftercare and information are available.
